About Hot Dam Blues
Hot Dam Blues was started in 2023 with the goal to revitalize the blues dance scene in Rotterdam, with a focus on parties with live blues music.
We are a community run by volunteers with a love for blues and blues dancing. It is our goal to create a lively and safe blues (dance) community in Rotterdam. We do this by organizing parties with live music and sharing information on blues, blues dancing and African-American culture as whole.
What is blues dancing?
Blues dance is a dance style that evolved right alongside blues music in the Deep South during the late 1800s and early 1900s. It comes from African American communities and, just like the music, it’s not just one kind of dance—it’s a whole family of styles. And the cool part? It’s still evolving today.
Can I learn to dance blues in Rotterdam?
Yes, there are weekly blues dance classes at Swing in Rhythm, a swing and blues dance school located in Delfshaven.
Parties

Active in the community as organizer, teacher and dancer, Wouter can never sit still. When visiting one of our events, you're likely to bump into him and when you do, ask him to dance.
